Bento box on the Mac and iPad. I spent a few hours today getting to know more about how to use this and I love it. Seems very easy to create a tailored personal crm tool and a sales funnel tool, just 2 examples. One more excuse for not staying in touch with people goes out the window!
I love Fazer blue chocolate. The taste is like no other chocolate on the globe. If Nokia and santa claus hadn't existed to put Finland on the global map then I am sure Fazer blue would have done the job. Which is why it is so extremely disappointing that I can't eat it any more until someone can show me that child slavery is not involved in the process :(

Just learned I can't eat chocolate any more :(... http://www.kamikazecookery.com/blogs/210
I think, for the first time ever, I have been able to "join the dots" for what Amberbuzz should be doing and how all the parts join up... Amazing how this is so hard to do when it's your own business... Mind you, give me 24 hours and probably all the dots will move again, so let's see.

One of the many benefits of living in a free standing house in the country is the opportunity, no... duty, to help the neighbours appreciate good music when I am home alone. Today it is Planet X. Any requests? If you listen hard you could probably hear Järvenpää from Helsinki, only 35km and downhill all the way.

I reckon it's tough being on vacation. People just don't understand. The constant call of email. Is it important? Am I important? Do people miss me? Am I needed? I lasted almost all day today without checking, despite the constant calling from my mobile phone. And when I checked, well... No probs. Am I defined by my email inbox? Wow. What a sorry state.

I wish Sendible had an iPad app. I love using it but it is painful using the iPhone app on the iPad.

Holidays

We are on holiday. One whole week. Well, 9 days if I include both weekends. Of course, weekends start at 4pm on Friday and last until 8am Monday, so that makes 64 hours each weekend plus 5 weekdays of 24 hours each (120 hours), so 184 hours altogether. 11,040 minutes! Wow, I must need a holiday!

By the way, if you think these blog entries are stupid, they probably are.
Ever since I got my new MacBook air I have found myself using it more than the iPad. I even noticed today that I hadn't used the iPad email since Saturday. Now I am back on the iPad and it feels great. Of course they are different, different apps and use cases, but they are both a joy to use - I feel good using them both. Why is that? They look great, sound great, feel great to touch, they serve me.Next week I am planning to take off as a holiday. Does it mean I need to leave my MacBook and iPad alone for a week so I don't accidentally slide back into work? What if I don't even notice? What if I start working while on holiday and enjoy it so much it relaxes me. Wow.

One of the great things about Finland is the great customer service you can get. Yesterday I completed my first plumbing task in our new home, installing a new vanity unit, and I have to say that the help I got from K-Rauta in Järvenpää was excellent. The service guy really took over my problem like it was his own, saved me over €30 but gained a loyal fan. It really seems to be better shopping locally here in Jarvenpää than in Helsinki. The range is no smaller, the prices are as good or better and the service is great! I love it here.

Design is cool - when I see something that looks great - looks beautiful - it's a fantastic feeling - that feeling of desire - I must own that thing. I have just got my new Macbook air - and it is great design!

But why? How does it work - if something is designed today that looks incredibly desirable then why did it take until today to design it - why couldnt it have been designed 2 years ago? 20 years ago?

Of course technology has something to do with that - we can do things now that we couldn't do earlier - but is it also something to do with our DNA?

Is design incremental? So that we don't see something as desirable unless it is somehow connected with something we have already understood to be desirablefrom an earlier experience? Are we all design lemmings?
